What is a car like the Jeep Cherokee Sport that works well in all sorts of weather, is reliable, and is fairly inexpensive. Or is the Jeep Cherokee Sport good for the things I mentioned?

Cherokees aren’t bad, but they are gas hogs. My son has one, and really complains about the mileage, even with the V-6. I’ve got a 2000 S-10 Blazer; it doesn’t do bad on mileage, and is great in snow.

A Citroen 2CV will work well in any weather, will never get stuck in snow, sand or mud, and uses around 50 mpg of gasoline. It also requires essentially zero maintenance and has manual overrides for just about every feature. Only trouble is, they stopped making them in around 1990. Now they’re collectors’ items.

My 93 XJ (Cherokee) gets 19 mpg if I baby it.. not great, but beats the 16 or so my 97 S-10 blazer got. XJs are good off road vehicles, they are easy to modify and fix. The 4.0ltr (Inline 6) are known for being strong engines and will last 300K+ miles if taken care of. My 93 XJ currently has 203K..

I hear the Subaru’s are good in the snow. Light though and not as easy to modify as the Jeep Cherokee.

My personal preference would be the Cherokee (not to be confused with the Grand Cherokee) or the Wrangler. Like the other guy said 19 miles per gallon. So you may not be able to go as far on a $1 of gas, but you’ll be able to go ANYWHERE you want on $1 of gas. ;o)

Check out http://www.xjtalk.com/ http://www.tjtalk.com/ http://www.jktalk.com/. Lots of people there that can help you decide if you want a Jeep or not. Just be warned, they love their Jeeps. :o D
