I went by a write-up at 4×4explorcom about an Aussie install, and used his specs. So far so good! YMMV…. ?

Great video. I watched twice before I installed an Aussie in my XJ. I do have questions though. You torqued the ring gear to 80? ft lbs. My FSM, and all the information I can find in various jeep forums says 55 ft lbs (or it gives a range of 45-65). Where did you get 80 from? Same question about the bearing caps, FSM and forums says 60 (or a similar range, but you only did 45. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Holding up perfectly. No need to redo the backlash. Pull axles,? remove carrier, install, done!

Best mod ever! In 2WD, it is invisible. In 4W,? it kicks in, but makes no noise at all.

They didn’t specify any, and I didn’t see any in use either. Don’t guess it would hurt. But how? well does that stuff work when everything is so oily?

Completely invisible unless you are in? 4W. And even then, no noise.

Does this make? much noise on the street. I am looking at getting one on a Grand Cherokee. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I didn’t see the use of any thread locking on the ring gear bolts? Does Aussie recommend the use of it or issa it used and not shown.? When I removed the ring gear on my Dana 30, I didn’t notice any thread lock on the threads

I don’t regret the aussie in my d 30. The only problem I? have is in snow. When it first snows it’s great, but when the roads turn half ice half blacktop I have to go into 2wd. It gets a little hairy and stressful on the axle.
